  8. Volume Pro CSM is a Control Strip Module that lets you adjust the sound volume and left/right balance (if you have stereo speakers atttached).

  10. Compatibility

  12. The Volume Pro CSM requires Sound Manager 3.0 and Control Strip 1.4 or better.  Both are standard in Mac OS 8 or later.

  14. Installing the Volume Pro CSM
  15.  
  16. If you are using Mac OS 8.5 or earlier, you must drag the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip folder inside your System folder.  If you are using Mac OS 8.6 or later, the Mac OS will recognize the Control Strip - merely drag it to your System Folder, and the Mac OS will move it automatically for you.

  18. With Mac OS 8.5 or earlier:

  20. 1)  Open your System folder.
  21. 2)  Copy the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip Folder in your System folder.
  22. 3)  Restart your computer.

  24. Configuring the Volume Pro CSM
  25.  
  26. Once you've installed the Volume Pro CSM, you can configure it to match your personal preferences.

  35. Main popup menu
  36.  
  37. The popup menu lets you control the appearance of the Control Strip.

  39. Show left/right balance
  40. Displays the left and right balance levels in graphical form.

  42. Show volume level
  43. Shows the volume as a percentage, where 0% is muted and 100% is full volume.

  46. Shows the left and right balance levels as a percentage, where 0% is muted and 100% is full volume.

  48. Beep after changing volume
  49. If selected, this Control Strip will beep once whenever you change the volume or left/right balance.  Turning it off may be desirable if you are using headphones to listen to an audio CD.

  51. Adjusting the volume

  53. To adjust the volume, click down on the volume portion of the CSM.  A slider will pop up that you can adjust.  Dragging the slider downwards will reduce the volume.  Dragging the slider all the way to the bottom will mute the sound.

  66. To adjust the balance, click down on the balance portion of the CSM.  A slider will pop up that you can adjust.  Dragging the slider downwards will increase the left channel volume; dragging it upwards will increase the right channel volume.
